There are three linguistic reasons for choosing this variant spelling.

Every prophesy is accompanied by an attribution block. This block contains a byline giving the name of the person who said the prophesy, and a dateline giving the day the prophesy was first said.

Prior to the interpretation of portents, these names and dates are the only means of keeping prophesy organized. The portents listed here are arranged from oldest to newest, even if they have already been interpreted.
